Encourage Holiday Reading
This time of year we find ourselves busy with the preparations of Christmas. We try to volunteer our time and services to others, spread Christmas cheer to those around us, and prepare the decorations and gifts that are eagerly awaited by all. Christmas Break is a great time to encourage your children (and ourselves) to read. I found these great tips over at www.morethanareview.com. Check out their site for great book reviews!

First, let’s talk about ways to encourage reading with your family throughout the Christmas season.

- Have Elf on the Shelf? Perhaps your elf could be discovered reading a favorite book or even in a pile of books your child might read.
- Create an advent calendar surrounding books or authors. Count down to the big day with a different author quote or information about an age-appropriate book.
- Set aside a family time for reading. This is a great thing to do all year long, but especially in the winter months. If you have older children who can read on their own, you could even start your own family book club.
- Is your family doing Angel Tree? Even if it’s not requested, include an age-appropriate book or two (or three!) with the gifts.
- Joining (or start) a book club
- Create a routine around reading at night with a favorite blanket, location, and warm drink, and
- Use More Than A Review to choose your next book!
*************************************************
I pray all may have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Keep reading!

Language Barrier
Writing has become a battle between what society has come to expect and feel is appropriate, and what should actually be written.
Every time I pick up a book, I want to know three things:
1. Does this book have bad language?
2. Does this book have inappropriate or explicit scenes?
3. Would my children enjoy this book?
I once read something that made me realize that maybe I'm not the only one out there that wants books to be clean.

I once read something that made me realize that maybe I'm not the only one out there that wants books to be clean.
This little quote made me smile. Everytime I come across a sentence in a book that has bad language I think, "hmm, there are at least a dozen other appropriate words that could have been used and made the book so much better."
I don't know why people need to hear or read bad language or why they feel the need to use inappropriate language when the speak, but it is completely unnecessary. It's the books without the filth that get put on my shelf and I'm hoping shelves of school libraries. Let's keep kids innocent.

Coming This September!!
Whispers of Death is my newest novel. After two years of work, I have finally sent it off to my publisher for printing.
*****
Haunted by Death, Amelia's dreams feel ever so real with
each passing night. Plagued by the sense of palpable fear, she continues
forward with the demands of life at the forefront.
Death had been searching for just the right person that
could help him regain his powers. After hundreds of years it seemed all
hope was lost as those that died were now stuck in Limbo, forever suffering in
pain and anguish. A ray of light appeared as a vision from a stranger led Death
to Amelia, though making her a willing participant would prove to be difficult.
An endearing and supportive husband is something every woman
would dream of and something Amelia has been blessed with, although nothing
could have prepared them for what was about to take place. Their lives were turned
upside down in the blink of an eye and their outlook of life, and death,
forever changed.
A battle with Death can make one question even their most
righteous desires, despite the fact that a common enemy had brought them
together. Can Amelia ever find solace with her new knowledge or would death be
the only thing that will bring her peace?
Journey on both sides of the veil as Amelia helps battle an
evil that threatens to take away all that she has ever known and loved.
Don't forget to add it to you bookshelf on Goodreads and share with your friends on Social Media!!

Coming Soon and Sneak Peak!
A week ago I was able to do something I have been trying to do for the last two years...I finally wrote the magic words that every author has a love/hate relationship with."The End"
As I have finally finished my manuscript, it means I now begin a new chapter, one that I'm never fond of. It means that I now have to begin editing and picking apart what I have worked so hard to finish. I appreciate everyone's patience as I have worked. It can be torture sometimes waiting for a new book to come out.
While I am busy getting my book print ready, I decided to give you all a little taste of what's to come. The book trailer for Whispers of Death is now LIVE!
Click HERE to see it. Please also make sure you share it with your friends.
